2026 REACH Regulation

For inclusion in Declaration of Conformity / Product
Compliance Document Applicable scope: Jewellery, fashion jewellery, hair ornaments, piercing jewellery, metal findings & components. Finished articles and separate metal parts are covered.

Entry 23 – Cadmium and its compounds
 
Metal jewellery components & metal beads: Cadmium (Cd) ≤ 0.01% (100 mg/kg) by weight. Articles with Cd ≥0.01% shall not be
placed on the market. Exemption: Antique articles aged ≥50 years.

Entry 27 – Nickel and its compounds (Nickel Release, NOT total nickel content)

Piercing posts / body piercing assemblies: Nickel release  ＜0.2 μg/cm²/week
Articles for  direct  and  prolonged  skin  contact  (rings,  necklaces,  bracelets  etc.):  Nickel release ≤0.5  μg/cm²/week Test standard:  EN  1811;  coated  items  shall  apply  EN  12472 accelerated wear & corrosion pre-treatment. The coating shall maintain compliance for at least 2 years under normal use.

Entry 63 – Lead and its compounds

Every individual jewellery part: Lead (Pb) ≤0.05% (500 mg/kg) by weight. Any single component exceeding this limit is prohibited for placing on the market.  Exemptions apply to certain crystal glass & natural gemstones.

Other relevant Annex XVII restrictions (secondary)

Entry 43: Azo dyes for textile jewellery parts: No carcinogenic aromatic amines (limit: 30 mg/kg).
Phthalates:  Restrictions  apply for  plastic / soft  polymer jewellery  components, stricter for children’s articles.

Additional REACH Obligation (NOT Annex XVII restriction): SVHC If any SVHC substance in an article exceeds 0.1% w/w and annual EU tonnage >1 ton, ECHA notification and SCIP database submission are required. Safety information shall be
provided to downstream customers upon request.
